Who:
Mercy Chen has been dancing and studying Argentine tango for
the past four years. In addition to being a wonderful follower,
she is one of Houston's best leaders. She believes that learning
the leader's part as well as the follower's allow one to better
appreciate the importance of connecting with one's partner and
dancing well. Mercy has studied with many masters of Argentine
tango, including Daniella Arcuri, Armando Orzuza, Cacho Dante,
Brigitte Winkler, Oscar Mandagaran, Alex Krebs, Luciana Valle
and many others. She has performed in various tango exhibitions
around Houston. Her style of dance combines precise technique
with musicality and versatility. She emphasizes balance, partner
communication and above all, having fun dancing tango.
Leonor Guariguata has been tango dancing for the past five years,
and ballet before then. She studied under New York City tango
masters and stars of the Broadway show "Forever Tango," Diego
di Falco and Carolina Zokalski, as well as Pablo Veron, Brigitte
Winkler, Eric Jorissen, Florencia Tacetti, and many others. She
has been teaching for the past two years in New York and the last
few months in Houston. She promotes argentine tango as a social
dance with infinite possibilities for anyone willing to learn.
