October 1 & 2 Ney Melo workshop at City Dance Studio
 
Daniela and Mercy are happy to invite you  for a one weekend
workshop with Ney Melo.  This young milonguero has created
a dynamic style by blending the traditional elegance of the
close-embrace style with the nuevo tango style of tango. He
combines fluency, subtlety, and energy, together with a unique
interpretation of the music. Based in New York City, he recently
conducted a teaching and performing tour of Australia and Asia. In
North America, he is a regular teacher/performer at all the major
tango festivals (he will be featured at the upcoming Portland
Tangofest). This will be one of his last workshops for 2005
before he moves to Buenos Aires for a couple of months.  Ney Melo
was trained in Buenos Aires under the Maestros: Roberto Herrera,
Chicho Frumboli, and Julio Balmaceda, developing depth in posture,
walk, elegance, musicality and structure of tango. He teaches
a very popular Argentine tango course at NYU, and is part of
the "El Abrazo" Academy of Tango along with Jennifer Bratt and

Cost:		$15/class if registered by September 28
		$20/class if registered after September 28

		12:45-2:05PM:	Technique Intensive (essential
				exercises for walking, pivoting,
				contra body motion, and finding
				the embrace)
		2:20-3:40PM:	Playing with Dynamics & Suspension
		4:00-5:20PM:	Paradas & Adornos: Dancing
				to Pugliese and Piazzolla

    9:30PM-until your feet will last -Milonga at Helios - full bar,
    no food (Cover $5)

		12:45-2:05PM:	Milonga Musicality & Phrasing
		2:20-3:40PM:	Parallel & Cross Systems
		4:00-5:20PM:	Vals: Dancing in the Vortex
