>From San Antonio Tango:

Calling all dancers:

Many of you helped raise money for Katrina victims by participating
in our fund-raising milonga, and we hope you will help New
Orleans-based tango instructors Alberto and Valorie Paz, who are
helping to rebuild the NOLA Tango community.

We have invited Alberto and Valorie to offer a weekend workshop
on January 28th and 29th, 2006.

The schedule and bio is below. I have personally visited with
Alberto to watch his teaching and dancing style, met his students,
danced at his French-quarter Milonga, and talked with him for
a few hours about Tango history - a great learning experience
for me! Every teacher we bring to SA has something unique to
offer. I feel that Alberto will help us put more Tango in our
Tango, emphasizing the culture and foundation of it from an
Argentine perspective; this is very different from the "show"
patterns that many of you currently learn, without much of the
"heart and soul" of the Tango in them.

I hope you will all support them and attend!

Feliz a¤o nuevo a todos!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Everyone, teachers and learners at any level of experience, should
especially try to attend the first workshop, because that's where
Alberto and Valorie will teach, demonstrate, and explain, in a
way that nobody else does, the essential structure of the dance,
and the tools and ingredients needed for a successful learning
experience, most of which are rarely taught elsewhere. You will
get much more out of the rest of the events with this workshop
under your belt.

Arrive early, and give yourself time to relax and warm up; it is
all about ENJOYING tango and tango dancing. Alberto and Valorie
have a most caring, non-judgmental approach. So, come as you are,
and remember that every tango dancer is precious.

Alberto and Valorie encourage you NOT to shy away from a workshop
on the account of your perception of what level you are in. Theirs
is a method that fosters progressive equalization in a genuinely
caring environment that's going to make you feel welcome, make
you relax, and ... make you laugh, but also challenge you and
build confidence in your ability to learn and progressin each
and every workshop. This is why, as usual, we have decided not
to pigeonhole people into levels "beginners" and "intermediates"
and "advanced". Alberto and Valorie have provided suggestions for
attending some of the workshops (see descriptions). If they feel
a workshop is not worth your time and money, they will let you
know, and we will give back your money for that workshop. It's
that simple.
