Sad news from Ilya Karash:
I regret to announce that the Tango Oblivion milonga
will no longer be held. I want to thank everyone who
has supported our milonga over the past 1.5 years since
we've started it. It's been a fun ride, and I personally
enjoyed it immensely. Perhaps, Tango Oblivion will return
in the future in a different form of reincarnation,
but it's too early to contemplate that at this time.

BairesTango (Meche Acuña, Rafa Noguerol and Oscar
Lopez-Gamundi) is starting a new class for beginners
on Thrusdays at 7:00PM at Barbara King's Studio, King's
Dancing Center, 5200 Bissonnet St., Bellaire TX 77401.
This new cycle of classes will start on August 2nd. Classes
will be held every Thursday at 7:00 pm for one hour
and will build from the fundamentals of Argentine Tango
that will enable you to dance with anybody anywhere. The
four-class package goes for $48. Please advise if you are
interested since size of the class is limited. Respond

The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues their
class cycle this week, now with three classes each night.
Joan Bishop instructs at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock
@ Beverly Hill, Suite 500. This new space offers room

Wednesday
Jackie Arita, manager of Salento Cafe, sponsors a
weekly tango event. The dancing runs from 9 pm till
midnight. Salento Cafe is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in
the Rice Village area: Salento moves all the tables to the
walls and open up a nice floor of smooth tile. Tango music
dj'ed by Oscar. Salento offers a great selection of wines,

Mercy has started a Follower's Technique class,
Wednesdays, June 27th to August 1st, 8pm-9pm. Our regular
group classes will be put on hold until mid-August.
The follower's technique class will focus on drills
that will improve: (1) general form and posture, (2)
techniques for walking, various ochos, giros, boleos, and
(3)tango embellishments. This class is open to anyone
who wishes to improve her technique. There will be five
classes in this cycle. Rates per person are $25 for all
five classes or $10 per class for drop-in. Please make
