        We have a full weekend to look forward to, with all the
        regular events, plus the monthly Art & Tango milonga on
        Saturday.  Plus, Tangohous is hosting a special Sunday
        intensive bootcamp to get everyone in shape for the
        Houston Tango Festival coming next weekend.

        Update: Martin & Natia have canceled their Friday class
        this week only.  Saturday Milonga is on as usual.

        Tangohous intensive bootcamp this Sunday, Jan 20th

        Tangohous will hold an intensive tango bootcamp
        for beginners to intermediate dancers this
        Sunday. The boot camp is specifically designed
        to get you in shape for the Houston Tango Festival

        on January 24-27, 2008.  If this will be your first the
        tango festival--you should come to this workshop.

        When:  12pm and 4pm, Sunday, January, 20 (3 hour class +
               1 hour practica)
        Where: City Dance Studio (5416 Chaucer--Rice village,
               behind the Ruggles Restaurant).
        Price: $20; $10 for students.
        Requirement: At least one cycle of tango classes or
               permission of instructors.

        Gente de Teatro, Houston's Spanish language theatre group,
        is presenting "Volvió una Noche" [She Returned One Night],
        by Argentine playwrite Eduardo Rovner on Jan 18 & 19 at
        Rice University.  An acclaimed comedy in SPANISH, this is a
        must see! A hilarious and sweet comedy that brings together
        the music of tango, an independent man and his Jewish
        mother who decides to "come back", it won several prizes
        and nominations and has been shown in many countries!

        The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues their
        class cycle this week, now with three classes each night.
        Joan Bishop instructs at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock
        @ Beverly Hill, Suite 500.  This new space offers room

        Jackie Arita, manager of Salento Cafe, sponsors a
        weekly tango event.  The dancing runs from 9 pm till
        midnight. Salento Cafe is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in
        the Rice Village area: Salento moves all the tables to the
        walls and open up a nice floor of smooth tile. Tango music
        dj'ed by Oscar.  Salento offers a great selection of wines,

        Helios Tango Club Instruction - Intermediate Level

        Ron Jones will join us as a guest teacher for the first
        two cycles of the regular intermediate classes starting
        in January. Ron has been dancing tango for 10 years,
        and is fluent in close embrace, salon and nuevo tango
        styles.  He lists Ernesto Carmona, Marcelo y Analia,
        Daniel Lapadula, and Andreas y Meredith as some of his
        most influential teachers. He will collaborate with Mercy
        for the next two cycles of her regular classes to share
        his knowledge of tango with those who are interested
        in and dedicated to taking their tango to the next level.

        Technique Requirement: students must be familiar
        with walking to the cross, ochos, ocho cortados, and
        molinetes. Depending on the balance of leaders and
        followers, the size of the class is limited. Please

        week class cycle is designed for complete beginners,

        opened up her new enterprise, the "Avant Garden" in
        place of "Helios/Mausoleum". It has been completely
