It is *so* nice to finally be back to normal ...
Pampa Cortes has adjusted his schedule, and added
milongas on the first and second Saturdays each month
at his new location, The Dance Factory. That means that
this Saturday, October 4, is the inugural Pampa's Grand
Milonga, 9pm-1am, hosted and DJed by Pampa, $10/person.

Cafe Tango Bar & Studio will be hosting their now
traditional Haunted Milonga on Saturday, November 1.
Costumes encouraged, with awards distributed to those
with the most votes from those in attendance.

Laura Pelligrino teaches beginner and intermediate tango.
Temporary Location: Avantgarden (Helios), 411 Westheimer
has graciously come to the rescue and offered us a spot
for Tango this Monday night. Please have a look at the
schedule and come on by.
*Starting Sept. 29th*, Laura will be teaching *Beginner
Tango Salon and Technique from 6-7PM.* This class will
include independent work on technique as well as work in
couples within the embrace, (open AND close). This class is
appropriate for those with no experience at all as well as
those who would like to brush up on the details of all the
elementary basic steps of Tango (walking, ochos, molinete,
and the cross, in both open and close embrace). This class
will be from Sept 29 through Nov.17th and *and will exclude
Oct. 20th as well as Nov. 10th* (6 weeks). Payment in full
($90) due on Sept. 29th. *Only those with some experience
may drop in beyond the 2nd week!!!!*!
*Also starting Sept. 29th*; Laura will be starting a
*new beginner course in Nuevo Salon*. Class time: *7:15-
8:45*. Each class will contain an element of technique
as well as topics/figures essential to Nuevo Salon
including the full spectrum of embrace, improvisation,
paradas, sacadas, boleos, ganchos, volcadas, colgadas
etc. etc.,) At least 3 months of experience dancing 2x
per week is required for this class. Please email Laura
if you are in doubt. *NO DROP INS beyond the 2nd week!*
9/29 - 11/17 (excluding 10/20 and 11/10) 6 weeks. Payment

weekly tango event. The dancing runs from 9 pm till
midnight. Salento Cafe is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in

Helios Tango Club Instruction - Intermediate Level
Wednesdays, May 14th - June 11th from 8:45 PM - 10:00 PM
Ron Jones will join us as a guest teacher for another
cycle of the regular intermediate classes in May. Ron has
been dancing tango for 10 years, and is fluent in close
embrace, salon and nuevo tango styles. He lists Ernesto
Carmona, Marcelo y Analia, Daniel Lapadula, and Andreas y
Meredith as some of his most influential teachers. He will
collaborate with Mercy in her regular classes to share
his knowledge of tango with those who are interested in
and dedicated to taking their tango to the next level.
Classes will be held in the large studio on Wednesdays,
May 14th - June 11th from 8:45 PM - 10:00 PM.
Every session of this class is new material and it can be
taken many times. The next cycle of classes will focus on
building on the tango fundamentals - improving the quality
of each step and the connection between the partners.
We explore the structure and technique of Argentine Tango
and keep memorizing patterns to a minimum.
Technique requirement: students must be familiar with
walking to the cross, forward and back ochos, ocho
cortados, and molinetes.
Classes are Wednesday nights from 8:45 PM to 10:00
PM. Rates per person are $35 for all five classes or $15
per class for drop-in. There are five classes in one
cycle. Please make checks out to "Helios Tango Club".
Depending on the balance of leaders and followers, the
