[HouTango-L] Tango This Week (9/22/08)

I hope everyone has weathered the storm without serious
problems. It is clear from the Centerpoint Energy web site
data that many, many houses are still dead in the water.
Thank goodness for the mostly delightful weather we have
        been experiencing.

Some event organizers have emailed me adjustments for the
general curfew at midnight, but the news I have is that
the citywide curfew ended for good at 6am Friday morning,
so we can tango away the weekend nights.

I presume that most events are back to normal now.
I haven't heard about any cancelations yet. I have heard
directly that Cafe Tango Studio, Pampa Cortes, and the Tea
House Milonga are all back to normal. Laura Pelligrino
has scheduled classes to resume next Monday at the River
Oaks Community Center, but that was dependent on them
having power - you might want to check on that before
        heading over.

We know tango is coming back to life because there is a
workshop this weekend, thanks to TangoHous! And there
is a new practica on Wednesdays, Practica H.

        ----------------

*Tango Workshop with Jennifer and Evan, Sept. 26-28, 2008*

are outstanding teachers who have taught tango across the
States and Europe and studied and worked with the masters
in Buenos Aires. Both of them taught in Houston within
the last year (Jennifer at the Houston Tango festival)
