Reminder~ Elizabeth Olivera & Mariano Gauna Workshop~ Sunday,
November 1, 11-4pm Elizabeth Olivera & Mariano Gauna Workshop
Two Master Instructors from Argentina in Houston for a one-day
workshop!!
They are available for Private Lessons from October 28-30th &
November 2-4th. Please email info at maurotango.com to schedule
a private.
They will be giving two performances at Salento Milonga (10.28)
& Te House Milonga (10.30)
Cost:
$30 per class, $15 per class for students with ID
Cash or checks at the door
Classes:
Level I- 11am-12:30pm
Includes: Caminatas(walking sequence), Respecting space,
Dancing while being aware of partner's torso, and
Rotation in the movements
Level II- 12:45pm-2:15pm
Includes: Clarity in the communication of movments,
Technique on the movements, and
Cross caminatas on double time
Level III- 2:30pm-4pm
Includes: Giros and ganchos, Synchronization of leaders and followers,
Embellishments for men and woman, and
Musicality with out breaking the embrace
Note- For maximum benefit from the classes, Level II & III
students are encouraged to attend the class before in order to
warm-up and feel comfortable with the class structure.
Instructor Bios:
Elizabeth Olivera
Elizabeth Olivera has been dancing and teaching tango since 2000 in
her hometown of Buenos Aires and around the world. She has danced
in numerous shows and exhibitions in Argentina, including "Madero
Tango" en Puerto Madero, "Bar Sur" in San Telmo, "Taconeando"
and "La Ventana" at the famous Casa de Tango.
Elizabeth is the founding partner, artistic director and
choreographer of the E.O.P. Tango Company, based in Buenos
Aires. She is also the co-director and instructor of the Argentine
tango school, 2 Para el Tango, at which some of the best known
dancers and teachers in tango hold classes. For four years she
served as an Assistant teacher at the International Tango Congress
(CITA) in Buenos Aires.
Due to the many great Argentinean teachers with whom she has
formally studied, Elizabeth has developed a teaching style that
focuses on creating an understanding of the aesthetics, body
dynamics and discipline that support the dancing of tango.
Mariano Gauna
Mariano Gauna began his career in dance when he was a child,
studying Argentine folk dance, modern dance, and specially
tango. Since 1996, he has been giving independent performances
as well as participating with several dance companies in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, and danced in the most popular tango houses
and shows in BA.
He has also been invited to participate in several dance companies
to perform in several tango shows in Europe, Asia and Latin
America. His tango dancing style emphasizes in a strong technique,
a firm and clear embrace, elegance and sensuality, without losing
the essence of the expression of the Argentinean Tango.
