The Argentine Tango Club is hosting a new milonga this
(extra) Saturday, at the new(ish) SSQQ facility. If this
milonga goes well, it will become a regular event on the
Houston schedule. Fuad & Özlem are holding an early
Saturday evening workshop for the tango curious and
those wishing to polish their core technique, in a fun,
tango-soaked environment. The workshop might be a good
warmup for the later milonga, making a full night of tango.
Houston's great Summer of Workshops just keeps on going,
like the Energizer Bunny! Indre tells us that Jaimes
Friedgen & Christa Rodriguez will be in residence for
most of August. In the early days of Houston tango,
we could only dream about having visiting teachers
take up local residence for a month. Now it's almost a
regular occurrance. Please take advantage of all these
opportunities. The ability to take specialized classes
over several weeks, with interspersed practice, is such
a great way to learn, and so much cheaper than a ticket
to BsAs.
It was great having Mikas & Antje back, but they will
again depart Houston and have suspended their classes. :-(

Milonga hosted by Argentine Tango Club at SSQQ
Saturday, July 30 at 10:30pm - July 31 at 8:00am
SSQQ Dance Studio <https://www.facebook.com/SSQQDance>
1431 West 20th St. (entrance on the side of the building)
Houston, TX
Contact Elizabeth Wingfield,
https://www.facebook.com/ebeeangel for details
July has an extra Saturday so why not have a milonga??
Milonga will be in Room 3 inside the SSQQ Dance Studio,
1431 West 20th St. (entrance on the side of the building)
Cover: $5
The SSQQ studio is a large dance studio in the Heights with
professional wood floors, new mirrors, state-of-the art
sound, cool A/C, plenty of free parking right in front,
a bar that sells cheap beer and wine. The new owners
are very friendly and are excited to welcome the tango
community to their studio.
There will be light snacks and you are welcome to bring
things to share and drink. The bar will also be open. There
is going to be a salsa party going on in another area
(this place is big, trust me) so make sure you go to Room
3 for the tango.
We'll start playing music at 10:30 and we can stay as late
as people want so bring your comfy shoes, take a nap in
the afternoon, and prepare to dance your heart out all
night. If all goes well, we will probably schedule a
regular milonga there so feedback is welcome.
Am I forgetting anything? Call me if you have questions... share
this with your friends... come and dance!!
