Total Beginner Bootcamp

Two days of intensive Argentine Tango that will prepare you
to dance tango socially and participate in the Houston tango
community. No experience or partner required to attend.

Gustavo Simplis and Monica Caivano are natives from Buenos
Aires. As such, they carry tango in their blood. Gustavo was
once quoted saying "tango is an addiction" and they have indeed
been working for many years in "spreading it" to as many people
as possible. It is their belief that tango is a wonderful social
dance for all types and kinds!

They are as passionate about teaching and social dancing as
they are about performing. Monica & Gustavo are known for their
spirited, rhythmic and elegant dancing. Full of emotions from
their feet to their faces, they express drama and playfulness
connecting with each other and the audience.

Gustavo has recently perform at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Gala, at "Om Shanti - Once Upon a Time in Bollywood" at the Long
Center or at last year's Austin Ballroom Festival. Monica past
performances include dancing at "Evita" with Zach Theatre and
producing shows for the Aztlan Dance Co among other places. In
2006 with much support from Austin and surrounding communitiess
they created Esquina Tango (esquinatangoaustin.com), a non-profit
organization striving to build a vibrant and diverse community
through dance, culture and language. Esquina Tango is now one
of the most active cultural hubs of Austin. Monica & Gustavo
currently teach over six group tango classes weekly along with
private lessons; they organize two to three weekly milongas as
well as many other cultural events.

As teachers Monica and Gustavo’s main asset is making tango
accessible to all. They connect and help people of all ages
feel comfortable and give them the confidence to enjoy the
dance and appreciate the culture.Their classes are fun & full of
energy! They seek through her teaching to get people “out in the
street” dancing socially. Their strengths lie in conveying both
the technique and the passion of tango. "Teaching goes beyond
the mere act of sharing information, it's the creating links
and crossroads between people, sharing and making the love for
dance and music contagious. I have met the most wonderful persons
through teaching.”
