After a successful weekend workshop last week with milonga
and practilonga, tango in Houston is a bit slower this
weekend. Sunday at Cafe Matisse looks to be the main
social event this week.
Mark your calendars for next weekend, Valentine's weekend.
Tango Houston hosts their annual Valentine's Milonga on
Sunday, Feb 15 at Continental Club, 8pm. Complete details
to follow.
Houston's own Eric Lanoix will be teaching and
performing as part of the International Tango Show &
Dance in San Antonio next weekend over Valentine's Day.

Glover Gill of Glovertango plays delicious solo tango
piano at the Continental Club from 8-9pm. Come to dance

The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues
a seven week class cycle this week. Students may

Derik Rawson host tango dancing at Byzantio, a new upscale
Mediterranean cafe bar. Great wood floor, menu of salads,
sandwiches, coffees, wines, etc. Easy going management.

Wednesday
Victor Collins teaches class - beginner 7-8pm, practica
from 8-8:30pm, intermediate/advanced from 8:30-9:30pm,
with practica until 10pm. $10/class, or $70 for a
package of eight. Victor Collins teaches at his studio
at 7026 Old Katy Road, Suite 281, in The Resource Center.

Toe to Toe continues their classes at Rice University, in
association with the Rice Ballroom Dance Society, on the
Rice campus, 7-8pm, $50/person for the entire semester (Jan

Tango Houston hosts their weekly practica at
Café Matisse, 114 Gray at Valentine, from 7:30pm
to midnight,713-942-8600. Come practice what you
have been learning in class, polish your steps for the
milongas, and try out new moves in a fun, forgiving dance
environment. Casual dress, plenty of room, beginners
welcome, advanced dancers welcome. $3/members, $5/public

Open dancing at Agora Cafe, 1712 Westheimer at Dunlavy,
just across the street from Brazil, from late until later
(generally after the practica above at Cafe Matisse). Agora
is an older house that has been beautifully remodeled with
an inlaid hardwood floor, an open design with balcony,
and large windows open to the street. No cover, with
sandwiches for sale and a full bar. Derik has stocked
the jukebox with tango CDs. FREE
