Hey Clear Lake, Argentine Tango is Coming to You!

Group lessons (beginner's level) start on Monday May 10th 2004.

Join instructors Eric Lanoix and Susana Collins and learn the
basics of Argentine Tango over four weeks. Explore the sense
rhythm, the sensuality, or just have fun learning Tango. At the
end of the four-week cycle, you will be able to dance socially
with other members of the Houston Tango community.

Classes will take place at Amy Blake's Academy of Dance (2150,
Bay Area Blvd., Houston, exit 26 on I-45, near Space Center
Blvd.) on Mondays May 10th, 17th, 24th, and June 7th (no class
on Memorial day). For more information, contact Eric at (832)
287-9229 or email tanguero_norte at yahoo.com.

Cost is $40/person for the whole cycle of classes.

Eric Lanoix instantly fell in love with Argentine Tango when
he discovered it in Montreal in early 1998. Since then, he
has learned from great masters such as Hernan Obispo, Esteban
Moreno, Claudia Bodega, Paul Montpetit, Laura Eva Steinmander,
and others. Eric also traveled to Buenos Aires and Montevideo to
deepen his grasp of the music and dance of Argentine Tango. He has
taught and perfomed in various locations including Quebec, Texas,
Louisiana, and Thailand. He was a Tango dancer in the 2001 motion
picture " Waking Life" , directed by Richard Linklater. He was the
bandoneon player in San Antonio's Tango band, "Viva Tango". Eric
recently performed as dancer and bandoneon player in the "Tenor's
Tango" show in San Antonio, TX. His mechanical engineering
background, together with his knowledge of the "music of the
Rio de la Plata" allows him to effectively teach body movement,
stability, and lead/follow as well as the intricate nuances of
tango musicality. By day, Eric works at the NASA-Johnson Space
Center.

Susana Collins was born in Argentina into a family with a great
passion for dance and music. Susana was exposed to Argentine
folklore and tango from early childhood by her parents. By the
age of five, she began training in Classical Ballet and Flamenco,
later extending into Argentine Folklore. Upon moving to the U.S.,
her family soon formed an Argentine dance and music group, in which
she assisted, as choreographer and later director. Susana continued
exploring dance and performed with various organizations throughout
Houston, including modern jazz, salsa, South and Central American
folk dances. Finally, convinced by her father, who by that time
was an established tango instructor, Susana began learning tango,
which quickly became her greatest passion, taking her back to
Buenos Aires to fully train and live in the art of Tango.

Eric and Susana began dancing together in March '03. Since then,
they have taught and performed in various venues in the South
of the US. They recently performed at the 2nd Argentine Tango
Festival in New Orleans. Although Eric and Susana have taught
tango lessons and workshops in several texan cities, this marks
their first series of classes in Clear Lake - Eric's neighbourhood.
