In Houston, it will be pretty quiet on the tango scene
this weekend. Victor Collins will have his regular Friday
night free class and milonga, but that seems to be it from
Wednesday night through Sunday. Several instructors have
explicitly mentioned they are off during the Wednesday
to Sunday period, so you should definitely confirm that
regular classes or events are still being held.
Victor Collins continues his milongas at Arepas &
Empanadas Gourmet, Inc., 12792 Veterans Memorial on the
north side of town. Already a hot dining and dance spot
on the weekends, now adding tango night every Friday.
Great Colombian food and drink especials. FREE Practica
from 8:30-9:30pm, FREE introductory class from 9:30pm. to
10:30pm, with milonga to continue immediately following.

For those ready for a road trip, the sixth annual
Fandango de Tango in Austin starts on Wednesday night,
and continues for the long Thanksgiving weekend, Nov
24-28. This is a very big event, and draws people from
all over the United States. Great milongas, and fantastic
workshops over the five day event. The stellar lineup
of teachers include Fabian Salas y Carolina del Rivero,
Julio Balmaceda y Corina de la Rosa, Carolina Zokalski y
Diego di Falco, Pablo Pugliese, and Luciana Valle y Alex
Krebs. There are 6 milongas and 74 hours(!!) of classes
available. Ricardo Moncada of Learn to Dance is a very fine
organizer and promoter, and these events are always superb.
