The wealth of tango events continues this week
with an impressive array of workshops and milongas
organized by Derik Rawson for Andres Amarilla and
Meredith Klein, honoring their visit to Houston
this week. Andres and Meredith made their debut
to Houston last night at Salentos, with much
more to come this weekend. All the details are at:

Our guest instructors will be at Argentango's Saturday
night milonga and a special Sunday milonga at David
Adickes'Sculpturworx studio, famous for it Mt. Rushmore
sized heads of former US presidents, and live music
by The Gypsies. *NOTE* The workshop series continues
through next Monday evening, 7:30-9:30. Special entry
at bottom for *next* Monday.
Daniela writes: I would like to thank you all who
participated to Robin's workshop and who came out and
danced, everyone who helped in a way or another to make
this wonderful event happening. Please note, our March 5th
practica at Helios will be canceled since Derik will have
the big milonga in celebration of Andres Amarilla workshop.

Sculpturworx. 8pm-12pm, $15/person to cover rent and
musicians Everyone brings home cooked food, Argentine
and French Wines. Note: Live tango music provided by
Greg Harbar's Gypsy Tango Orchestra playing Argentine and
Russian Tangos, plus Gypsy Swing from the Le Jazz Hot Club
in Paris, France from the 1920's and dancing to tango
CD's. Some members of the orchestra are in the Houston

Juan Carlos and Alicia Suarez write: Classes will not be
held from March 1st to March 17th due to our son's wedding
and a workshop that we will be conducting in New York City.
Classes will resume on March 18th from 7:30pm to 9:30pm.

Victor's classes are suspended for the month of February
while he is on vacation in Argentina. Classes will resume
March 8.
Martin & Natia are back from Argentina and their classes
resume normal schedule on Friday, Mar 3.

The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues
their class cycle, now with three classes each night.
Joan Bishop instructs at their new location: The Dance
Place, 3300 Chimney Rock @ Beverly Hill, Suite 500.
This new space offers room to grow with new students.
Beginner 7-8pm, Intermediate 8-9pm, Advanced 9-10pm.

Salento Coffee sponsors a weekly tango event. The dancing
runs from 8:30pm to 11:30pm, if there is demand. Salento
Coffee is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in the Rice Village
area: Salento moves all the tables to the walls and open
up a nice floor of smooth tile. They even offer a special
"Tango Sandwich."

The new Clear Lake Tango Club meets at 7:30pm at Dance
Moves studio, 611 Kirby Blvd, in Seabrook's Taylor Lake
Village. Robert Barnes teaches the Salon Style Argentine
tango and that uses a syllabus. Cost is ~5$, to cover

Thursday
Roger Soto teaches Argentine tango classes, every
Thursday, beginning February 9th from 8 to 9pm at the
Spanish Institute of Dance. It is a beginner's class
and will run for four weeks. No partners necessary. The
classes will focus on social dancing skills and the
basics of close embrace tango. For more information

celebration of the Andres Amarilla workshop.]
Daniela and crew host a practica at Helios, 9-11pm, this
week with visiting instructor Robin Thomas. Every third
Sunday, this practica features alternative music, DJed
by our enthusiastic dancers: Mikas, Angela and Damien.
We'll open the evening 8-9PM with classical tango music.

The Clear Lake Tango Club will host a bi-weekly Persian
tea-time milonga every other Sunday from 4-7pm at
the Cyrus Persian Grill. The Cyrus Persian Grill
is located at 911, NASA Parkway, Houston TX (in the
Clear Lake area). Tel.:281-280-8200. To get there from
town, take I-45 South, exit at Exit 25, and go left
(East) Until you reach the restaurant. The restaurant
offers an excellent selection of Persian dishes (Eric
