Helios Tango Club starts a new session, Apr 4-May 2.
Every session of this class is new material and it can
be taken many times. The next cycle of classes will
focus on building on the tango fundamentals: improving
the quality of each step and the connection between the
partners. We explore the structure and technique of tango
and keep memorizing patterns to a minimum. Intermediate
Classes, Location: City Dance Studio 5416 Chaucer
Dr, 713-529-6100, Wednesdays 8-9pm, $25/person for
five classes. $10/class dropin. Apr 4 - The Walk and
Connection - It's a staring contest; Apr 11 - Dissecting
the Ocho Cortado and create your own variations; Apr 18 -
The secrets of a Molinete; Apr 25 - Dancing Vals musically;
May 2 - Drama, how to spice up your dance. Requirement:
Students must be familiar with walking to the cross,
ochos, ocho cortados, and molinetes. Depending on the
balance of leaders and followers, the size of the class

The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues their
class cycle this week, now with three classes each night.
Joan Bishop instructs at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock
@ Beverly Hill, Suite 500. This new space offers room
to grow with new students. Beginner 7-8pm, Intermediate

Wednesday
Jackie Arita, manager of Salento Cafe, sponsors a
weekly tango event. The dancing runs from 9 pm till
midnight. Salento Cafe is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in
the Rice Village area: Salento moves all the tables to the
walls and open up a nice floor of smooth tile. Tango music
dj'ed by Oscar. Salento offers a great selection of wines,
including Argentine Malbec as house wine. Empanadas and

Mercy & Mika teach independent classes on Wednesdays at
City Dance Studio:
Mikas teaches two tango fundamentals classes on Wednesdays
at the City Dance Studio in Rice village at 5416 Chaucer
Dr. (behind Ruggles). Fundamentals I from 7pm to 8pm and
Fundamentals II from 8pm to 9pm. Both classes are full
for the 6-week cycle that starts on February 21, 2007,
but if anyone is interested in attending the next cycle
