Join us to a great tango evening with our great DJ Luis
Zuleta, playing unforgettable tunes in a wonderful and
friendly environment. And to make it even a better night,
we have the special presentation of our wonderful tango
masters Luciano Brigante and Alejandra Orozco back in
Houston and at “Flor de Milonga” to show us what they
do best! You just cannot miss it!

        ----------------

Alex Momontoff did a great job as DJ last Saturday night.
His milonga was a masterpiece of young, old and eclectic
world dance/tango music. Thank you Alex and Sue for dancing
and supporting the Emporio Milonga. The family, Oteiza
(30 family members) had a 75th wedding celebration that
honored Hugo Oteiza's grandfather and grandmother and
lasted into the milonga. My thanks to the entire family
but especially to Hugo Oteiza for introducing his family
        to Emporio Brazilian Cafe.

Also in attendance was Maestro Rene Casarsa and his
wife Chiche. Rene is performing at the University of
St. Thomas again this September 22 at 7:00 pm. Rene has
assembled a wonderful tango quartet for this event.
I will send a separate email later with the details
for his event. This one of my favorite tango events.
I hope to see you there.

On most Saturday evenings, guitarist John Yeh and song
stylist Giselle Duque perform at Emporio. Their Bossa
Nova, Samba and Jazz set is wonderful. I hope you get
a chance to hear them play.

Our next milonga is October 3, 2012. We hope to see
        you there.

Every year Autumn brings a sense of fresh beginnings. Some
coolness in the air, memories of the start of school. Fall
brings new practices, routines and changes. And in
anticipation of that, we are gearing up for a new season
for tango learning. We have two new class cycles coming
up in September, I start teaching an intermediate class
Fridays. Please read the following information about the
scheduled classes, seminars, and workshops. Please be
kind to share the information with your friends and help
        me spread the word.

Please make a note that Tasty Tango Tuesday is postponed
        till next week.

*Midway* to tango, starting first Friday of the month,
September 7th. Intermediate tango, cycle consists of
four 75 min classes, 8-9.15pm at Tango Cielo.
$50 whole cycle, $15 single class. No partner necessary.

Designed for dancers with complete knowledge of tango
fundamentals. In Midway to Tango sessions You will learn
changes of direction in linear and circular movements. You
will be introduced to more advanced patterns and steps
such as sandwich, parada, sacada and more. Emphasis in
Midway Tango is placed on developing a skill to combine
basic steps and translate it to a new musically flowing
sequences. Steps and patterns are done in both milonguero
and salon style embrace to dance all three tango genders:
        vals, milonga and tango.

*Begin* Tango ; Four week cycle starts every first Monday
of the month. Cycle consists of four 75min classes
7.00-8.15pm. At the Continental Club, 3700 Main @ Alabama
$50 whole cycle, $15 single class. No partner necessary.

In four weeks you will be introduced to the fundamentals
of Argentine Tango. To mention few - tango walk, salida
basica, front ad back ochos, ocho cortado and gyro. You
will learn to use these steps comfortably within the line
of dance staying connected with your partner and music.
Perfect for those who are complete beginners, polishing
their tango basics or wants to be challenged as a dancer
with a new form of movement - Argentine Tango. All
the steps are executed in milonguero- heart to heart
embrace. After completing this cycle you are encouraged
to repeat the cycle or move one step forward to midway
        to tango.
