It's a busy weekend, kicking off with a ladies' workshop
and evening tango performance by Pampa & Valeria Cortez.
Then there are two Saturday milongas to choose from (or
attend both!) First is the grand opening of the newly
enlarged Cafe Tango Bar & Studio, after the downtown
performance. In addition, Always Tango is hosting their
monthly Art & Tango event at Melody Club, with a tango
singer and artist in residence drawing the dancers.
Even TeaHouse tango is trying a twist on their regular
Friday event.

the one night only 4-21-07 Argentine Tango & Folk Show -
"Destino de Tango" choreographed and performed by Pampa
and Valeria Cortez, with guest pianist Rene Casarsa.
You may purhcase the tickets by mail, at the studio or
at the door - $20.00 with free milonga following the

We are blessing the additional studio space this Saturday
by hosting the milonga 4-21-07. We are opening the
doors to the Cafe Tango Bar and Studio after the show
"Destino de Tango," performed by Pampa & Valeria Cortes.
You all are invited to come, celabrate, mingle at the
best social atmosphere, and enjoy dancing with us in
the largest tango venue of Houston. Free champagne
all night. The milonga will start at 10pm to give
us time to drive back from the downtown performance.

Saturday workshop: 4-21-07 1pm - Tango Attitude for
Women, $30.00. Please be prepared to execute exercises
without tango shoes. To avoid any wear and tear of
your precious feet, please come to class with socks,
stockings, ballet slippers or some kind of protection for
your feet. (NO tennis shoes). Valeria has designed this
class specifically for women and our special needs to
look and feel the best in tango. Partners not needed.
This class is for women only. You will be using your
dancing shoes at some point during the class, but please
don't be surprised when she requests to free your feet.
And not to be outdone, Always Tango cordially invites you
to enjoy a night of Art & Tango in a very distinguished

The Houston Argentine Tango Association continues their
class cycle this week, now with three classes each night.
Joan Bishop instructs at The Dance Place, 3300 Chimney Rock
@ Beverly Hill, Suite 500. This new space offers room
to grow with new students. Beginner 7-8pm, Intermediate

Wednesday
Jackie Arita, manager of Salento Cafe, sponsors a
weekly tango event. The dancing runs from 9 pm till
midnight. Salento Cafe is located at 2407 Rice Blvd in
the Rice Village area: Salento moves all the tables to the
walls and open up a nice floor of smooth tile. Tango music
dj'ed by Oscar. Salento offers a great selection of wines,

Helios Tango Club starts a new session, Apr 4-May 2.
Every session of this class is new material and it can
be taken many times. The next cycle of classes will
focus on building on the tango fundamentals: improving
the quality of each step and the connection between the
partners. We explore the structure and technique of tango
and keep memorizing patterns to a minimum. Intermediate

Connection - It's a staring contest; Apr 11 - Dissecting

(starting April 5, 2007), covering fundamentals of
close embrace social Argentine tango for beginners and
those wishing to refresh the basics. City Dance Studio
